Cool Cat Corner V will feature two competitions: a Novice Lindy Lottery competition, and an Open Strictly Lindy competition. Only Weekend Pass and Dance Pass holders are eligible to enter the competitions. Both competition prelims will be held late Saturday afternoon, and both finals will be held during the Saturday evening dance. To register for either (or both) competitions, please:

Open Strictly Lindy - $750 prize for 1st place

This will be a no-holds barred, all air-steps allowed competition open to all levels. Dancers register as couples and will dance to music selected by Cool Cat Corner DJs in the Prelims. The Finals will be danced in spotlight format to live music provided by Gordon Webster and Friends. Although choreographed sequences are not disallowed, the judges will be looking for spontaneity, creativity, and connection to the music.

Novice Lindy Lottery - $250 prize for 1st place

In this contest, created by swing dance legend Jack Carey, competitors will enter as a Leader or a Follower and dance with randomly assigned partners. In the Prelims, each competitor will dance to multiple songs selected by Cool Cat Corner DJs, each time with a new partner. Competitors will dance to live music provided by Gordon Webster and Friends in the Finals. Dancers do not need to sign up with a partner in order to compete in this contest. Competitors are expected to have little or no contest experience in the role which they are competing as - those who have been a finalist in any regional or higher events in that role may not enter this division. Dancers are encouraged to compete in this competition in their non-primary role if their non-primary role fits the novice criteria.
