We have two tracks of dance classes for the weekend, each named for a Charlotte "cat" sports mascot. Charlotte's NBA basketball team was formerly named the Bobcats, and the Panthers are Charlotte's NFL football team. Since the tracks are self-placed, here are short descriptions of each to help you decide which track is right for you.
Bobcats: Dancers who have fallen in love with Lindy Hop and want to become more comfortable and confident with it.
You’ve learned a swingout and can use both 6- and 8-count patterns in your dancing, but you’d like to expand your repertoire. Although you know the basics, you know your technique could always use a little work. And you’d love to get ideas on how to use dance to express your own personality in a musical way. These classes tend to focus on both technique and vocabulary (learning new moves).
Panthers: Experienced dancers who want to take their dancing to the next level.
You’ve been Lindy Hopping long enough to have made it your own, but you want to find out what you don’t know yet. You’re working on perfecting your technique to a fine art and figuring out how to play and create with the dance in innovative ways. You’re looking to be inspired and excited by new possibilities. These classes tend to focus more on abstract concepts and technique.
